Judas and the Black Messiah gets a new trailer

January 13, 2021 by Amie Cranswick

Warner Bros. has released a new trailer for Judas and the Black Messiah, ahead of its world premiere later this month at Sundance. Inspired by true events, the film is written and directed by Shaka King and tells the story of the betrayal of Black Panther Party chairman Fred Hampton (Daniel Kaluuya) at the hands of FBI informant William O’Neal (LaKeith Stanfield); watch it here…

FBI informant William O’Neal (LaKeith Stanfield) infiltrates the Illinois Black Panther Party and is tasked with keeping tabs on their charismatic leader, Chairman Fred Hampton (Daniel Kaluuya). A career thief, O’Neal revels in the danger of manipulating both his comrades and his handler, Special Agent Roy Mitchell (Jesse Plemons). Hampton’s political prowess grows just as he’s falling in love with fellow revolutionary Deborah Johnson (Dominique Fishback). Meanwhile, a battle wages for O’Neal’s soul. Will he align with the forces of good? Or subdue Hampton and The Panthers by any means, as FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover (Martin Sheen) commands?

Judas and the Black Messiah features a cast that also includes Jesse Plemons, Dominique Fishback, Ashton Sanders, Martin Sheen, Algee Smith, Darrell Britt-Gibson, Dominique Thorne, Amari Cheatom, Caleb Eberhardt, and Lil Rel Howery.

Judas and the Black Messiah arrives in theaters and on HBO Max on February 12th in the US.
