Jurassic World is fourth film ever to cross $1 billion outside USA

September 7, 2015 by Tom Beasley

Multiplex powerhouse Jurassic World has become only the fourth film to clear $1 billion outside of America, joining this year’s Furious 7 along with James Cameron’s one-two punch of Avatar and Titanic.

The news puts the icing on the cake of an excellent summer for Universal, which can claim two of the films in the exclusive club from their 2015 slate alone, having also made Furious 7.

Colin Trevorrow’s reboot of the Jurassic Park franchise, starring Chris Pratt (Guardians of the Galaxy) and Bryce Dallas Howard (The Help), now sits at $1.6 billion worldwide and is the third highest grossing movie of all time.

A sequel to the film is due in 2018, with both Pratt and Howard set to return.
