Kathleen Kennedy on whether the Skywalker story will continue past Star Wars: Episode IX

April 16, 2017 by Gary Collinson

A few weeks ago Disney’s Bob Iger revealed that Lucasfilm was beginning to map out the next 15 years of Star Wars movies, and now during an interview with Fandango at Star Wars Celebration, Kathleen Kennedy has been discussing whether the Skywalker saga will extend beyond 2019’s Star Wars: Episode IX, or if the focus will shift to Anthology movies.

“I certainly foresee movies past nine. Whether or not we carry on the Skywalker saga… you know, George always intended nine movies, and whether we continue that or not is something we’re talking about right now. If the story warrants it, we’ll absolutely do it. If it actually inspires new ideas, then we’ll probably head in that direction. We just don’t know yet.”

How would you like to see the main saga continue? Should Lucasfilm jump straight into Episode X after IX, or would you like to see a break in between trilogies? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below, and be sure to check out all of our Star Wars Celebration coverage here.
