Katy Manning’s Jo returns for more Doctor Who: The Third Doctor Adventures

December 15, 2022 by Andrew Newton

Third Doctor fans will be treated to a whole new adventure next year as Big Finish Productions will be releasing a brand new audio box set in February 2023.  Available to pre-order now, Doctor Who – The Third Doctor Adventures: The Return of Jo Jones sees the return of the much-loved former companion Jo Jones (nee Grant) played by Katy Manning.

In Doctor Who – The Third Doctor Adventures: The Return of Jo Jones Tim Treloar once again takes the role of Jon Pertwee’s iconic Doctor Who in three full-cast audio dramas.

Years after the former UNIT member finished Jo’s adventures with the Doctor in the TARDIS, she reunites with him at a very important point in her life to tackle curious bird attacks on the Isle of Wight and much more.

The new Doctor Who stories in this box set are:

  • Supernature by Matt Fitton, finds Jo and the Doctor on the Isle of Wight where a set of strange bird attacks peaks the Doctor’s curiosity.
  • The Conservitors by Felicia Barker, takes the duo away from planet Earth to a distant world filled with political intrigue as a regime tries to control everything.
  • The Iron Shore by Lizzie Hopley, sets the Doctor and Jo on an adventure to uncover the connection between a haunted dock and an alien curse.

                                                                Katy Manning and Tim Treloar

Producer Heather Challands says: “We’re always looking for new ways to celebrate an old and much-beloved era. This instalment of The Third Doctor Adventures has not one, not two, but three new two-part standalone adventures!

“Ranging from bird attacks on the Isle of Wight, to political unrest in a repressive regime looking to robotically control all elements of risk, and then to a haunted dock under an alien curse. The Doctor is reunited with Jo Jones, setting off on another trip around the universe… and I couldn’t be more thrilled!”

Doctor Who – The Third Doctor Adventures: The Return of Jo Jones is now available to pre-order from the Big Finish website as a collector’s edition 3 disc CD box set plus digital download for £19.99 or just the digital download only for £16.99.
