Keanu Reeves open to Speed return, calls revisiting characters “a special thing”

March 29, 2023 by EJ Moreno

Keanu Reeves is no stranger to returning to roles. In 2020, the actor returned to his role as Ted Logan in Bill & Ted Face the Music and played Neo for The Matrix Resurrections in 2021. Now, he’s currently wrapping up his John Wick saga with an epic fourth entry.

Being able to return to a role like this makes Reeves feel highly privileged. Speaking with Looper, the actor opened up about having the opportunity to reprise beloved roles and pointed out specific examples of parts he wants to see again.

Reeves tells the outlet, “It’s cool … I never expected that starting out, so to have the opportunity to reprise roles, especially roles that you love, is a special thing. I acknowledge that. To be in John Wick: Chapter 4 is like, ‘What?’ In terms of reprising a role, I don’t know — let’s throw Jack Traven from Speed in the Wayback Machine.”

Reeves is currently promoting John Wick: Chapter 4, which dominated the box office this past weekend with a franchise high $137.5M debut.

What memorable Keanu Reeves roles would you like to see the actor revisit? Is Jack Traven from Speed on that list, or are you clamoring for more of Reeves as Constantine?

“John Wick (Keanu Reeves) uncovers a path to defeating the High Table.  But before he can earn his freedom, Wick must face off against a new enemy with powerful alliances across the globe and forces that turn old friends into foes.”

John Wick: Chapter 4 is once again directed by Chad Stahelski and stars Keanu Reeves as John Wick, Lance Reddick as Charon, Ian McShane as Winston, and Laurence Fishburne as The Bowery King. Newcomers to the franchise include Donnie Yen (Ip Man), Japanese-British pop singer Rina Sawayama, Hiroyuki Sanada (Army of the Dead), Marko Zaror (From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series), Shamier Anderson (Wynonna Earp), Bill Skarsgård (It: Chapter Two), Scott Adkins (The Bourne Ultimatum) and Clancy Brown (The Shawshank Redemption).

John Wick: Chapter 4 is out now in cinemas.
