Set within the shadowy world of female poker grifters and featuring original song, the movie follows a once-loyal sisterhood as shifting alliances—and a triple-con—fracture the bond that once held them together.
The film is based on the play Never The Same Rhyme Twice by Andy Rooster Bloch with James adapting the screenplay. It will also feature original songs by Molly Venter of the group Goodnight Moonshine for the film with James, Michael Downey and Dave McVeigh producing while Dean Stoecker will serve as executive producer. Ranch Productions is producing Quads & The Kicker.
“The luxury of time—to really connect and explore—is something we don’t often allow ourselves anymore,” said James about the rehearsal process. “I wanted to build something that reflects a way of being before everything became immediate.”
“This marks our second film under the Ranch Productions banner,” said Stoecker. “We’re drawn to visceral, unique, hybrid-genre projects like Quads & The Kicker and have an exciting slate to follow.”
Production has already begun in Arizona.
