Kevin Smith reacts to the Joker trailer, says he “loves” the tone

April 5, 2019 by Gary Collinson

Kevin Smith has taken to social media to express his love of the new trailer for Joker, starring Joaquin Phoenix.

Kevin Smith, as we all know, is a huge superhero/comic book fan, and particularly fond of all things Batman. Many fans look to Smith when something new in the world of nerdom drops and it was no different when it came to the trailer for Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker movie.

Taking to Twitter after viewing the new trailer, Smith expressed his delight at what he saw, praising the trailer’s tone and excitement about watching the film later this year:

“SPOILERS! This joke is killing! Love the tone and feel of this trailer! Can’t believe we get to see the cinematic fall and rise of the Clown Prince of Crime! And that little boy behind the gates who he makes smile? I’m guessing that kid might see a very dark night one day…”

Smith is, of course, referring to the Bruce Wayne cameo in the trailer, alluding to the dark future that awaits him as an adult.
