Lakeith Stanfield joins The Girl in the Spider’s Web

January 8, 2018 by Amie Cranswick

Get Out star Lakeith Stanfield has become the latest addition to the cast of Sony’s The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo sequel/reboot The Girl in the Spider’s Web, with THR reporting that the actor is set to portray an NSA security expert who is tracking Lisbeth Salander.

The new film is being directed by Fede Alvarez (Evil Dead, Don’t Breathe) and sees The Crown’s Claire Foy taking on the role of Lisbeth Salander, with Sverrir Gudnason (Borg/McEnroe) portraying Mikael Blomkvist.

The Girl in the Spider’s Web is based upon David Lagercrantz’s novel, the fourth in the Millennium series and the first not to be penned by the late Stieg Larsson. Also featuring in the cast are Sylvia Hoeks (Blade Runner 2049) as Lisbeth’s twin sister Camilla, Claes Bang (The Square) as the villain and Cameron Britton (Mindhunter) as a computer expert and associate of Lisbeth.

The Girl in the Spider’s Web is set for release on October 19th, 2018. Filming is slated to get underway this month.
