The Last Witch Hunter recruits Elijah Wood

August 5, 2014 by Gavin Logan

Lionsgate’s latest supernatural blockbuster already has the likes of Vin Diesel (Guardians Of The Galaxy), Rose Leslie (Game Of Thrones) and Michael Caine (Interstellar) but now they’ve snatched up Elijah Wood to join the roster. The movie is set in modern day New York where the last remaining witch hunter (Diesel) teams up with a witch to do battle against an uprising coven ready to spread a plague across the city.

Brett Eisner (The Crazies, Sahara) is directing with Vin Diesel acting as producer alongside Mark Canton (300:Rise Of An Empire) and Bernie Goldman. The script has been written by Priest scriber Cory Goodman. Wood’s role has yet to be confirmed but I think he’ll settle in just nicely having already had a fair amount of experience in this type of world, what with being stabbed in the chest by a Nazgul, having fought off a cave-troll and been poisoned by a giant spider during his Lord of the Rings stint as ring bearer Frodo Baggins.

Elijah Wood has been gaining lots of praise for his latest performance as poet John M. Brinnin in Andy Goddard’s Set Fire To The Stars, which recounts Brinnin’s friendship with Welsh poet Dylan Thomas.
