Lee Pace set for villain role in The Running Man remake

October 19, 2024 by EJ Moreno

Lee Pace knows all about playing a great villain, and he’s stretching those acting muscles once again.

Known to the mainstream for his role as the villain Ronan in Marvel Studios’ Guardians of the Galaxy, Pace has joined Edgar Wright’s The Running Man adaptation alongside Katy O’Brian (Love Lies Bleeding) and the recently announced Josh Brolin (Dune).

Wright is directing the feature from Paramount and co-wrote the script with Michael Bacall. The Stephen King novel that this film is based on, The Running Man, was released in 1982 and written under the pseudonym Richard Bachman. It was previously adapted for the big screen in 1987 with Arnold Schwarzenegger starring.

The Running Man is a dystopian thriller that follows protagonist Ben Richards as he participates in the game show The Running Man, in which contestants, allowed to go anywhere in the world, are chased by “Hunters.”

New Hollywood it-boy Glen Powell will play Ben, while Pace will play the brutal chief hunter for the network, who the producer tasks to track down Powell’s character. Brolin stars as the ruthless producer of the game show, and O’Brian will play another contestant on the show. Production will begin shooting in London at the start of 2025.
