Lilly Wachowski is excited to hear more about The Matrix reboot

August 9, 2019 by Gary Collinson

If you cast your mind back a couple of years, you may recall that Warner Bros. announced plans to reboot The Matrix, tapping screenwriter Zak Penn (The Avengers, Ready Player One) to work on a script for a new instalment in the hugely influential sci-fi action franchise.

Since then, there’s been very little in the way of information on Warner’s plans for the new film, and it seems that fans aren’t the only ones keen to learn more, as The Matrix co-creator Lilly Wachowski has told Slash Film that she is excited to hear more about the project.

“I like it when stories go out into the world and then come back to you in different ways,” said Wachowski. “I mean, that’s what storytelling is all about. I’m part of a bigger thing. I don’t have any ownership over stuff like that, so whatever story anybody wants to tell, I can’t wait to hear. I hope it’s better than the original.”

Wachowski also went on to confirm that she does not have any involvement with the proposed reboot, as she is “a little busy at the moment” due to her commitments to the new Showtime series Work in Progress.
