Linda Hamilton would “really love to be done” with Terminator franchise after Dark Fate

January 31, 2020 by Liam Waddington

Despite Terminator: Dark Fate receiving the best reviews for a Terminator film in decades, Linda Hamilton, who returned to the franchise for the first time since Terminator 2: Judgment Day as Sarah Connor, would “really love to be done” with the franchise after disappointing worldwide box office numbers.

In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Hamilton was asked if she was optimistic about returning as Sarah Connor again, to which she responded with:

“No. Something says to me… I don’t know. I would really appreciate maybe a smaller version where so many millions are not at stake,” the actress revealed. “Today’s audience is just so unpredictable. I can’t tell you how many laymen just go, ‘Well, people don’t go to the movies anymore.’ That’s not Hollywood analysis; that just comes out of almost everybody’s mouth. It should definitely not be such a high-risk financial venture, but I would be quite happy to never return. So, no, I am not hopeful because I would really love to be done. But, if there were something new that really spoke to me, I am a logical person, and I will always consider viable changes.”

It is understandable that Hamilton would feel this way after Terminator: Dark Fate took in $261.1 million worldwide on a reported production budget of $185 million – which has most likely put the series on hold for the foreseeable future.

Terminator: Dark Fate is directed by Tim Miller (Deadpool), with James Cameron producing, and sees Arnold Schwarzenegger (T-800) and Linda Hamilton (Sarah Connor) reprising their roles alongside new cast additions Mackenzie Davis (Blade Runner 2049), Natalia Reyes (Lady), Diego Boneta (Pretty Little Liars) and Gabriel Luna (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.).
