Lucifer star Tom Ellis officially signed for season 6 on Netflix

May 29, 2020 by Liam Waddington

Last month, it was reported Lucifer season six was in jeopardy following negotiations between star Tom Ellis and Warner Bros. Television coming to a halt after the actor rejected the latest contract offer.

Now, according to a recent report by TV Line, Tom Ellis has signed a new deal to return as the titular character after a lengthy contract dispute. Showrunners Ildy Modrovich and Joe Henderson have already closed deals to return for a sixth season.

Although Lucifer hasn’t been officially renewed for a sixth season by Netflix, this new development all but assures that the DC/Vertigo comic book adaptation will return after its initial fifth and final season.

However, if the show is renewed for a sixth season, it will be a while before it enters production as Netflix is still yet to finish and set a premiere date for season five, following a halt in production due to the ongoing global health crisis.

Lucifer originally aired for three seasons on FOX, before being saved from cancellation by Netflix. The upcoming fifth season was intended to be its last, only for Netflix to reach out for more after the show’s strong performance on the streaming network.

The series stars Tom Ellis, Lauren German, Rachael Harris, DB Woodside, Lesley-Ann Brandt, Aimee Garcia, Tricia Helfer, Scarlett Estevez, and Kevin Alejandro.
