Lucy Lawless joins Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

July 22, 2014 by Gary Collinson

It looks like Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has picked up its first new recruit for the second season of the show, with TV Line reporting that Xena: Warrior Princess and Battlestar Galactica star Lucy Lawless will be joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Although no details of her character have been disclosed, the site speculates that Lawless could be playing the recurring role of Mary Maloney – a highly skilled agent who can “command any room” – which has been out for casting.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. returns to ABC for its second season on September 23rd. An official cast announcement is yet to be revealed, but expect to see  Clark Gregg (Phil Coulson), Ming-Na Wen (Melinda May), Chloe Bennet (Skye), Iain De Caestecker (Leo Fitz), Elizabeth Henstridge (Jemma Simmons), Brett Dalton (Grant Ward), J. August Richards (Deathlok) and B.J. Britt (Antoine Triplett) all returning.
