Machinima adaptating DC’s Dial H For Hero, launching DC’s Hero Project reality show

May 8, 2015 by Gary Collinson

Having placed a second season order for the animated series Justice League: Gods and Monsters Chronicles, Machinima has announced that it is teaming up with Warner Bros. for two new DC projects – a Dial H For Hero adaptation called #4Hero, and a reality series entitled DC’s Hero Project.

#4Hero is described as “a modern adaptation of DC Comics’ cult-favorite classic Dial H For Hero“, with the official synopsis reading: “#4Hero is a live-action, VFX-heavy action-comedy about a young woman named Nellie Tribble who is quietly desperate to make her mark on the world, but wholly unprepared to do so. Nellie stumbles upon a life-altering smartphone app that allows her to instantly become a Super Hero for a short amount of time. The problem is her super powers are dictated by whatever is trending on social media at that moment, and they are always only semi-useful.”

Meanwhile, DC’s Hero Project will revolve around eight amateur filmmakers competing in an Apprentice-style contest for the chance to win the right to create a live-action short based on Starman. Geoff Johns will serve as one of the judging panel, alongside “well-known guest judges.”
