Maika Monroe is a Victorian Psycho in trailer for period horror

May 21, 2026 by Matt Rodgers

Ahead of its debut at this years Cannes Film Festival, Bleeker Street Entertainment and True Brit has released the trailer for Victorian Psycho, their period horror film that stars Maika Monroe (Longlegs) as a governess with a growing thirst for blood.

Directed by Zachary Wigon (Sanctuary), and based on the novel by Virginia Feito, Victorian Psycho also stars Jason Isaacs, Ruth Wilson, Thomasin McKenzie, Jacobi Jupe, and Evie Templeton. Check out the trailer below…

Based on the acclaimed novel by Virginia Feito, when eccentric governess Winifred (Maika Monroe) arrives at a remote gothic manor in Victorian England, her unnerving charm hides a deadly secret. Strange, unsettling incidents become harder to ignore as Winifred descends into madness, and her increasingly brutal acts shatter the calm of the estate. How far will this psycho killer go, and who will survive her wrath?

Victorian Psycho is coming to cinemas later this year.
