Mark Gibbon reportedly cast as General Zod in Supergirl

April 21, 2017 by Gary Collinson

It looks like Melissa Benoist’s Girl of Steel is set to kneel before Zod, with Bleeding Cool reporting that Canadian actor Mark Gibbon is currently shooting scenes as the Kryptonian warlord in Supergirl.

Gibbon has plenty of previous experience with comic book roles, having appeared in the likes of Man of Steel, Arrow and Smallville, along with voice roles in the Fantastic Four: World’s Greatest Heroes, Iron Man: Armored Adventures, X-Men: Evolution and Spider-Man Unlimited animated series.

This will mark the fourth live-action version of General Zod after Terence Stamp (Superman: The Movie, Superman II), Callum Blue (Smallville) and Michael Shannon (Man of Steel).

Previously confirmed as returning for the season two finale of Supergirl are Tyler Hoechlin as Superman and Calista Flockhart as Cat Grant.
