Marvel rumoured to be casting a “femme fatale” for Spider-Man: Homecoming 2

January 20, 2018 by Gary Collinson

Earlier this week it was revealed that Marvel, Sony and director Jon Watts are looking to head to Europe for the as-yet-untitled Spider-Man: Homecoming sequel, with the production reportedly set to shoot in the UK and Germany.

This followed earlier rumours that Marvel was auditioning European actresses for the role of Gwen Stacy, prompting speculation that the students of Midtown High could be embarking on some kind of foreign exchange trip which takes Spidey out of New York City.

Well, adding further fuel to that is a new rumour from That Hashtag Show, which suggests that casting is underway for a European actress in her 20s to portray a new “femme fatale” character.

The site goes on to speculate that this could potentially be a reimagined version of Gwen Stacy, or another character entirely, such as Jessica Drew/Spider-Woman or perhaps even Felicia Hardy/Black Cat or Silver Sablinova/Silver Sable, both of whom are set to appear in the upcoming Silver & Black spinoff movie for Sony.

Now, it should be noted that Marvel’s Kevin Feige has said on a number of occasions that Sony’s spinoff movies will not be part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, so a Black Cat or Silver Sable appearance in the Homecoming sequel seems unlikely. However, rumours this week have suggested that Tom Holland’s Peter Parker will indeed make an appearance in the Venom film, so it’s hard to know what to believe at this point.

Which femme fatale character would you like to see in the Homecoming sequel? Are you keen on the idea of a crossover with Silver & Black? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below…

Spider-Man: Homecoming 2 is slated for release on July 5th 2019.
