Marvel Studios is officially developing a Nova project

March 17, 2024 by EJ Moreno

One of the executives responsible for bringing to life the upcoming X-Men: ’97 is bringing more joyous news to Marvel fans. After years and years of teases and rumors, Brad Winderbaum dropped a mega bombshell concerning a Nova project.

Speaking to Comicbook.com promoting X-Men: ’97, the exec says something is brewing with Nova at Marvel, revealing: “We love Nova. We are in really early development on Nova… I love Nova, too. I love Rich Rider, too. I hope it gets to the screen.”

“The world is always chaos. There’s always things. You gotta conjure these things to make them happen, but I would love to see a Nova show one day.”

With Marvel Studios in a constant state of flux during recent months, Winderbaum speaks to the recent shake-ups. The executive states, “We have a new system behind the scenes at Marvel Studios. We’re more like a traditional studio now. We’re developing more than we actually will produce. In all honesty, there was a mandate to create as much as we could for Disney+ as quickly as we could, and then there was a shift.”

“Then, all of a sudden, we had to start spreading our release dates out,” he continues. “So, that really accounts for a lot of the delays. Now, we’re using that time, so [projects] stay in the oven; they can bake certain things a little more. It’s only going to make things better.”

Stay tuned for any updates on the Nova project, as no stars or filmmakers are currently attached, nor do we even know if it is being planned as a TV series or movie. We do know however that X-Men: ’97 debuts on March 20th on Disney+, and you can watch the latest trailer here.
