Marvel’s WandaVision is in a “mad sprint” to finish the series before it premieres says director

January 7, 2021 by Samuel Brace

Matt Shakman, the director of WandaVision on Disney+, says that the show is in a “mad sprint to the finish” due to how late they wrapped filming.

The global health crisis has had myriad consequences for the film and TV industry and this includes the first MCU show to arrive on Disney+, WandaVision.

Even though the series is due to premiere later this month, director Matt Shakman says that the crew is still working on the show to finish in time, due to fact that they were still filming as late as October. Speaking to SFX Magazine (via ScreenRant), the director said:

“We wrapped with very little time before the show has to air, so it’s going to be a mad sprint to the finish line, even more so than many [Marvel Studios] films have had. The fact that we did have that post-process in the middle allowed us to finish up quicker than maybe we would have if we had just shot straight through and then just started post.”

Hopefully, the strange conditions that the show was made in doesn’t have a negative impact on the quality of the finished product. The show looks like an intriguing one at the very least. At any rate, we don’t have long to wait now before the next chapter in the MCU arrives.

Marvel Studios’ captivating new series WandaVision stars Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany and marks the first series from Marvel Studios streaming exclusively on Disney+. The series is a blend of classic television and the Marvel Cinematic Universe in which Wanda Maximoff and Vision—two super-powered beings living idealized suburban lives—begin to suspect that everything is not as it seems.

WandaVision is set to premiere January 15th, 2021, and features a cast that includes Elizabeth Olsen (Scarlet Witch), Paul Bettany (Vision), Kat Dennings (Darcy Lewis), Randall Park (Agent Jimmy Woo), Teyonah Parris (Empire) as Monica Rambeau, and Kathryn Hahn (Bad Moms) as Agnes.
