Mckenna Grace cast as Daphne in live-action Scooby-Doo series

February 20, 2026 by Ricky Church

As Netflix prepares production on the live-action Scooby-Doo series, the streamer has announced the first casting decision for the upcoming show with Mckenna Grace (Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire) starring as Daphne Blake.

Netflix’s Scooby-Doo will be an origin story for how the Mystery Inc. gang came together over the course of eight-episodes. The series will take place at a summer camp as the young Daphne and Shaggy find Scooby-Doo who they believe witnessed a supernatural event resulting in a murder. The official synopsis reads:

During their final summer at camp, old friends Shaggy and Daphne get embroiled in a haunting mystery surrounding a lonely lost Great Dane puppy that may have been a witness to a supernatural murder. Together with the pragmatic and scientific townie, Velma, and the strange, but ever so handsome new kid, Freddy, they set out to solve the case that is pulling each of them into a creepy nightmare that threatens to expose all of their secrets.

In a funny coincidence, this will mark Grace’s second time playing Daphne as she voiced the young version of the character in the 2020 animated film Scoob! and was going to reprise the role as young Daphne in the prequel Scoob! Holiday Haunt until Warner Bros. scrapped the completed film for a tax write-off.

The series has been created by Josh Appelbaum and Scott Rosenberg who will serve as showrunners. They will also executive produce with André Nemec and Jeff Pinkner for their company Midnight Radio. Midnight is producing with Berlanti Productions and Warner Bros. Television.

Grace recently starred in the romcom Regretting You and the horror sequel Five Nights at Freddy’s 2. She will be seen next in Scream 7 and The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping.
