Michelle Pfeiffer open to Catwoman return for The Flash

February 5, 2021 by Gary Collinson

DC Films is about to explore its own multiverse of madness with the long-gestating The Flash movie finally gearing up to begin production and Michael Keaton officially confirmed to be reprising his role as the Dark Knight from 1989’s Batman and 1992’s Batman Returns alongside Ezra Miller’s Scarlet Speedster and Ben Affleck’s DCEU incarnation of The Bat.

As yet there’s been no word as to whether we’ll be seeing any other previous incarnations of DC characters appearing in the multiverse-spanning saga, but if you were hoping for a Batman Returns reunion between Keaton’s Batman and Michelle Pfeiffer’s Catwoman, then it seems we may have some bad news.

Speaking to Screen Rant to promote the release of her latest film French Exit [read our review here], Pfeiffer confirmed that she hasn’t been approached about a Selina Kyle return, but would be willing to do so “if anyone asked me”.

With filming on The Flash set to get underway in April, one would have to assume that Pfeiffer would have been approached well before now if she were indeed going to feature in the movie. Still, with the best part of two years still to go until the film’s release, additional photography all but assured, and Keaton reportedly being eyed for multiple DCEU appearances, perhaps we could still get to see Pfeiffer’s Catwoman return at some point down the line.

We do have at least one comic book movie appearance from Pfeiffer on the horizon however, with the actress set to reunite with her Ant-Man and the Wasp co-stars Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly and Michael Douglas to battle Kang the Conqueror in Marvel Studios’ Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. That too will shoot this year ahead of a 2022 release.
