Mike Flanagan’s Carrie TV series officially announces cast with Summer H. Howell in the title role

June 3, 2025 by Ricky Church

Mike Flanagan’s upcoming series Carrie, his next adaptation of Stephen King’s classic works, has announced its cast with Summer H. Howell (Curse of Chucky) officially playing the title character of Carrie White for Amazon MGM.

Joining Howell in Carrie will be Samantha Sloyan (The Fall of the House of Usher) as Carrie’s mother Margaret White, Alison Thornton (Girlfriend’s Guide to Divorce) as Chris Hargensen, Thalia Dudek (The Running Man) as Emaline, Siena Agudong (Resident Evil) as Sue Snell, Amber Midthunder (Prey) as Miss Desjardin, Josie Totah (The Buccaneers) as Tina, Arthur Conti (Beetlejuice Beetlejuice) as Billy, Joel Oulette (Sullivan’s Crossing) as Tommy and Matthew Lillard (Life of Chuck) as Principal Grayle.

Flanagan’s new take on Carrie will be “a reimagining of the story of misfit high schooler Carrie White, who has spent her life in seclusion with her domineering mother. After her father’s sudden death, Carrie finds herself contending with the challenges of attending high school, a bullying scandal, and the emergence of mysterious telekinetic powers.”

Carrie is one of King’s most well known and celebrated books, famously adapted in 1976 and 2013 with Sissy Spacek and Chloë Grace Moretz playing Carrie in their respective films.

Flanagan is writing the series and will direct episodes as well as executive produce. This is not his first time tackling a King story as he is on record saying King is his favourite novelist and has already adapted Gerald’s Game, Doctor Sleep and The Life of Chuck, the latter of which will release on June 6th [read our review here]. He also in the very early stages of developing King’s The Dark Tower series, though it has been a long time since we have heard an update on that potential project. His next film meanwhile will be a new take on The Exorcist.
