Ahead of MobLand‘s second season premiere in just a couple of weeks, Paramount+ has announced the crime drama has been renewed for a third season with Tom Hardy officially returning for the series.
Reports earlier this year claimed tensions between Hardy, who also serves as an executive producer, and showrunner Jez Butterworth escalated so much during production on season two that the pair were not working together and Hardy was prepared to exit the series should it be renewed.
The conflict was resolved last month in a meeting between Hardy, Butterworth and executive producers David C. Glasser and Guy Ritchie. The news means Hardy will continue to star alongside Pierce Brosnan and Hellen Mirren for the third season.
In MobLand, Hardy plays fixer Harry Da Souza for the Harrigan crime family. Season two will see tensions within the family rise as Harry tries to keep the peace between its members and other street gangs. Brosnan and Mirren play the family’s leaders Conrad and Maeve Harrigan as they try to maintain control of North London with their ruthless methods.
The ten-episode second season will see the Harrigans struggle to show a unified front as rising rivals threaten their fractured criminal empire – and Harry Da Souza, their street-smart and formidable ‘fixer’, must walk a dangerous tightrope when tensions within the family intensify. As violence spills into every corner of their lives, loyalties snap, safety proves temporary, and the battle for power leaves no room for mercy.
MobLand season 2 features a cast that includes Tom Hardy, Pierce Brosnan, Helen Mirren, Paddy Considine, Joanne Froggatt, Lara Pulver, Anson Boon, Mandeep Dhillon, Jasmine Jobson, Teddie Allen, Emmett J. Scanlan, Johnny Flynn, Ophelia Lovibond, Janet McTeer, and Toby Jones.
MobLand season 2 premieres on Paramount+ on September 18th.
