House of Cards star Molly Parker has signed on to play the female lead of Maureen Robinson in Netflix’s upcoming remake of the classic TV sci-fi Lost in Space.
Parker joins a cast that includes Toby Stephens (Black Sails) as Maureen’s husband and expedition leader John Robinson, with Maxwell Jenkins (Sense8) and Taylor Russell (Falling Skies) as children Will and Judy.
The new series, which has a ten-episode order from Netflix, will stick closely to the original series and follows the Robinson family on their voyage into space, only to find themselves stranded light years from their destination when their mission is sabotaged and their ship veers off course.
Lost in Space has been written by Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless (Dracula Untold), with Zack Estrin (Prison Break) serving as showrunner and Neil Marshall (Dog Soldiers) set to direct several episodes.
