My Adventures with Superman to debut on Adult Swim and Toonami this year

March 31, 2023 by Ricky Church

Two years ago DC and Warner Bros. Animation announced development of My Adventures with Superman, a new animated series that would focus on Clark Kent and Lois Lane in the early days of their careers at the Daily Planet just as Clark becomes Superman. With all the changes DC and WB have undergone in the last year with the Warner Bros. Discovery merger, not to mention the numerous projects cancelled or shifted, this series was in something of a limbo, but now we have a fresh update on its status.

Originally meant to air on HBO Max, My Adventures with Superman will now air on Adult Swim and Toonami later this year as part of Adult Swim’s new weekly animation block. The series was given a two season order and the only known voice cast so far is Jack Quaid (The Boys) as Superman/Clark Kent and Alice Lee (Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist) as Lois Lane.

The series is developed by Sam Register (Batman: The Doom That Came to Gotham), Jake Wyatt (Invader Zim: Enter the Florpus), Brendan Clogher (Voltron: Legendary Defender) and Josie Campbell (Legion of Super-Heroes). Wyatt went on Twitter after the news and said of moving to Adult Swim/Toonami:

So many of the people who made and are making this show grew up on Dragonball, Sailor Moon, Tenchi, Gundam, Naruto, and the rest of the Toonami lineup; it's so special that we'll get to be a part of that legacy with the work that shaped us.

Also the Toonami promos always bang

My Adventures with Superman catches up with twenty-somethings Clark Kent, the bright and driven Lois Lane, and their best friend Jimmy Olsen as they begin to discover who they are and everything they can accomplish together as an investigative reporting team at the Daily Planet.

In this serialized coming-of-age story, we follow Clark as he builds his secret Superman identity and embraces his role as the hero of Metropolis – and perhaps the world. Lois, now growing into a star investigative journalist, takes aspiring photographer Jimmy Olsen under her wing. All the while, Clark and Lois are falling in love, sharing adventures, taking down bad guys, stumbling over secrets, and discovering what it means to be Superman and Lois Lane.
