Naomi Watts, Kate Beckinsale and more tapped for Expendabelles

February 23, 2015 by Scott J. Davis

Rumours are circulating from The Tracking Board that the cast for Expendabelles, the all-female spin-off from Sylvester Stallone’s The Expendables franchise, may be taking shape.

Word from the site is that Naomi Watts (21 Grams) is attached to star in the film, with Brit Kate Beckinsale (Underworld) also rumoured to be taking on the lead role of the female-spy group.

In addition, Marcia Gay Harden (Fifty Shades of Grey), Li Bingbing (Transformers: Age of Extinction) and Mila Kunis (Jupiter Ascending) have all also been made offers to appear in the film, but as of now no official confirmation on any of the leading ladies has been announced.

The spin-off will follow reportedly “follow group of female spies who are tasked with rescuing a weapons engineer, taken hostage by a decadent, womanizing Indonesian Sultan.”

If Watts sign on, she will reportedly play Nancy, a guns and munitions specialist who lives a cookie-cutter soccer-mom life in LA, keeping her profession a secret from her family, while Beckinsale would play Tegan, an ex-CIA operative and mercenary who assembles and leads the team on their mission.

It’s claimed Stallone and Bruce Willis will reprise their roles in the spin-off (though the chances of Willis’ involvement must surely be very slim given his non-appearance in The Expendables 3), but again this is all rumour at this point. Robert Luketic is still set to direct the film, as we reported last February.

Many other actresses, from Cameron Diaz, Milla Jovovich and even Meryl Streep have been rumoured to be involved with the project over the last year, but so far as with all of the new news on the project, have just been rumour.

Would Watts, Beckinsale and Kunis make the dream-team for Expendabelles? Let us know your thoughts of the casting rumours, and the project itself, in the comments section below…
