National Treasure: Edge of History teaser released, Harvey Keitel announced to return

July 22, 2022 by Ricky Church

Disney+’s National Treasure series revealed much on the first day of the San Diego Comic-Con. A teaser for the series, which has now been given the official title National Treasure: Edge of History, was shown while Harvey Keitel was announced to reprise his role in the franchise. Watch the trailer below…

Keitel starred in National Treasure and its sequel as FBI Agent Peter Sadusky, the agent charged with capturing Nic Cage’s Ben Gates after he steals the Declaration of Independence and a member of a clandestine organization to protect the nation’s secrets. He will appear in Edge of History as Sadusky in a guest role.

Starring alongside Keitel are Lisette Olivera (I Always Said After), Lyndon Smith (Parenthood), Zuri Reed (Flatbush Misdemeanors), Jake Austin Walker (12 Mighty Orphans), Antonio Cipriano (Jagged Little Pill), Jordan Rodrigues (Light as a Feather), Catherine Zeta-Jones (Ocean’s Twelve), Jacob Vargas (Mr. Iglesias) and Justin Bartha, who is returning as the fan-favourite character Riley Poole from the National Treasure film series.

The 10-episode series will follow Jess (Olivera), a brilliant and resourceful young DREAMer who embarks on the adventure of a lifetime to uncover the truth about her family’s mysterious past and save a lost Pan-American treasure.

Check out the trailer along with a behind-the-scenes featurette…

Cormac & Marianne Wibberley, the writers of the original two movies, Jerry Bruckheimer and Jon Turteltaub will all executive produce the series alongside Rick Muirragui (Suits), who also serves as a writer, as well as Jerry Bruckheimer Television’s Jonathan Littman and KristieAnne Reed. The pilot episode is written by the Wibberleys and will be directed by Mira Nair. The series is currently in production and does not yet have a release date.

Meanwhile, Nic Cage and Jerry Bruckheimer are teaming up once again on a third National Treasure film where Cage will reprise his role as Benjamin Franklin Gates on another relic-hunting adventure.
