Netflix shares trailer for Western series American Primeval starring Taylor Kitsch and Betty Gilpin

December 5, 2024 by Amie Cranswick

Netflix has shared a trailer, poster and images for American Primeval, the western drama which retells the story of the exploration and birth of the American west.

Set in 1857, the series follows a mother and her young son as they flee from their past, only to be confronted with the harsh landscape of freedom and cruelty in the west.

This is America…1857. Up is down, pain is everywhere, innocence and tranquility are losing the battle to hatred and fear. Peace is the shrinking minority, and very few possess grace — even fewer know compassion. There is no safe haven in these brutal lands, and only one goal matters: survival. AMERICAN PRIMEVAL is a fictionalized dramatization and examination of the violent collision of culture, religion, and community as men and women fight and die to keep or control this land.

The cast includes Taylor Kitsch (Isaac), Betty Gilpin (Sara Rowell), Dane DeHaan (Jacob Pratt), Saura Lightfoot-Leon (Abish Pratt), Derek Hinkey (Red Feather), Joe Tippett (James Wolsey), Jai Courtney (Virgil Cutter), Preston Mota (Devin Rowell), Shawnee Pourier (Two Moons), Shea Whigham (Jim Bridger), Kim Coates (Brigham Young), Lucas Neff (Captain Dellinger), Kyle Davis (Tilly), Tokala Black Elk (Buffalo Run), Nick Hargrove (Cottrell), Irene Bedard (Winter Bird), Nanabah Grace (Kuttaambo’i), Alex Breaux (Wild Bill Hickman), Dominic Bogart (Cook), Alex Fine (Gant), Kip Weeks (Pepper), and Jeremiah Bitsui (Grey Fox).

American Primeval arrives on Netflix on January 9th.
