New Doctor Who adventures and old enemies for the Third Doctor coming in October with The Planet Killers

May 30, 2026 by Andrew Newton

There are exciting adventures in store for the Third Doctor (Tim Treloar) and Jo Jones (Katy Manning) this October in The Third Doctor Adventures: The Planet Killers, a brand-new audio box set from Big Finish. This upcoming box set takes the newly reunited friends back to Russia in the 19th century and to a beautiful planet where an old enemy waits.

The two new adventures coming for the Third Doctor this October are:

The Beasts of Sakhalin Island – a four-part story written by Jez Fielder. When the Doctor and Jo arrive on Sakhalin Island in 1890, they meet the famed dramatist and writer Dr Anton Chekhov (Joe Eyre), who is writing about the hardships of inmates at the penal colony. When a strange infection develops and the miserable howls of a tortured beast echo through the night, the Doctor suspects something is being torn between dimensions.

From L to R: Kieran Devine, Ellie Carnaby, Emily Hurst, Tom Brace-Jenkins, and Peter Devlin.

The Planet Killers by Andrew Smith. This two-part tale takes the time travellers to the beautiful world of Paratel, but it’s not long before the pair find it is a planet due for destruction. A fight against its destruction, the ruthless exploitation of minerals and the inhumane slavery is soon made much harder by the arrival of an old enemy, the Daleks (Nicholas Briggs), whose sinister plan will cost many lives. Can the Doctor stop the Daleks and Paratel’s destruction?

Doctor Who – The Third Doctor Adventures: The Planet Killers is available to pre-order now for £19.99 for the download, or £24.99 for the download and limited collector’s edition CD box set. Bundles are also available.
