New James Bond announced for upcoming audio drama Young Bond: SilverFin

June 22, 2026 by Andrew Newton

Back in February, Big Finish Productions revealed they would be creating Young Bond: SilverFin, a brand-new full-cast audio drama series that focuses on the teenage years of the legendary hero created by Ian Fleming. They also announced that they would be holding auditions for young James and his friend Wilder Lawless.

After a huge amount of audio auditions (over 500 hopefuls), and 12 shortlisted would be Bonds, producers Robert Valentine and Lizzie Worsdell and writer-director Barnaby Edwards have chosen Isaac Rouse as James Bond alongside Charlotte McBurney as Wilder Lawless. Rouse may be familiar to some for his roles in The Crown, Genius, and as Charlie Bucket in the stage production of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Charlotte McBurney has received a BAFTA nomination for her role as Amicia in the A Plague Tale series.

Amanda Douglas, Managing Director of Ian Fleming Publications Ltd, said: “Isaac brought a quiet confidence and authenticity that made him feel perfectly suited to the role of Young Bond, while Charlotte captured Wilder Lawless’s charisma and energy brilliantly.”

L to R: Robert Valentine (Producer), Lizzie Worsdell (Producer), Isaac Rouse (James Bond), and Barnaby Edwards.

Written by Charlie Higson, Silverfin is the first Young Bond novel, first published in 2005, and follows James’ arrival at Eton College in 1933. These new surroundings, combined with new friends, and school bullies, provide Bond with his first taste of action that will follow him throughout his career as the world’s best secret agent.

Young Bond: SilverFin will be an eight-hour full-cast audio drama released as two box sets in October. It is available to pre-order now for £24.99 for the download, or £35.99 for the download and collector’s edition CD. There are also other bundles available containing an assortment of collectable goodies.
