New Line Cinema sets It: Chapter Two release date

September 26, 2017 by Gary Collinson

As Chapter One continues to rake in the cash at the worldwide box office, Warner Bros. and New Line Pictures have now officially given the green light to the second chapter of its Stephen King adaptation It, setting a release date of September 6th 2019 for the sequel.

Director Andy Muschietti is set to return for the second movie, which picks up 27 years after the first and sees the now-adult Losers’ Club reuniting to face Pennywise once again. As yet, there’s no word on casting for any of the adult characters, but Bill Skarsgard is set to return as Pennywise and the young cast are also expected to feature in flashback scenes.

Since its opening earlier this month, It has become the highest-grossing Stephen King adaptation, as well as the highest-grossing horror movie in North America. It is currently sitting on $478.1 million worldwide.

When children begin to disappear in the town of Derry, Maine, a group of young kids are faced with their biggest fears when they square off against an evil clown named Pennywise, whose history of murder and violence dates back for centuries.

It sees Andy Muschietti directing Bill Skarsgard (Hemlock Grove) as Pennywise alongside Jaeden Lieberher (St. Vincent), Finn Wolfhard (Stranger Things), Jack Dylan Grazer (Tales of Halloween), Wyatt Oleff (Guardians of the Galaxy), Chosen Jacobs (Cops and Robbers), Jeremy Ray Taylor (Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Road Chip), Owen Teague (Bloodline), Sophia Lillis (A Midsummer Night’s Dream) and Nicholas Hamilton (Captain Fantastic).
