August 18, 2022 by Amie Cranswick

Ahead of its premiere next month, Showtime has released a new trailer for the small-screen reimagining of Paul Schrader’s 1980 neo-noir crime drama American Gigolo.

The series follows Julian Kaye (Jon Bernthal), a former escort who is trying to find his footing in the modern-day sex industry and navigating life outside of prison after spending 15 years incarcerated for a murder he didn’t commit. Watch the trailer below…

Exonerated after fifteen years in prison for a murder he didn’t commit, former gigolo Julian Kaye (Jon Bernthal) faces the challenge of picking up the pieces as the detective who put him behind bars tries to unravel the mystery that led to his incarceration.

Joining Jon Bernthal in the cast of American Gigolo are Gretchen Mol, Rosie O’Donnell, Wayne Brady, Lizzie Brocheré, and Leland Orser.

American Gigolo premieres on Showtime on September 9th.
