Nightwatch: Demons Are Forever trailer sees the return of Nikolaj Coster-Waldau

April 18, 2024 by Amie Cranswick

Shudder has debuted the official trailer for Nightwatch: Demons Are Forever, the sequel to writer-director Ole Bornedal’s 1994 cult classic Danish horror Nightwatch.

The film follows Emma (Fanny Leander Bornedal), the daughter of Martin (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau), as she accepts a job in the same facility where her parents were almost killed almost three decades earlier in an effort to investigate what exactly took place that night. But after tracking down serial killer Wörmer (Ulf Pilgaard), she awakens him from his coma which leads to a series of catastrophic events. Check out the trailer below along with the official poster and promotional images

22-year-old medical student Emma (Fanny Leander Bornedal) has just taken a job as the night watch in the same forensic department where her parents were once almost killed by the famed psychopathic police inspector Wörmer. The events led to her mother’s suicide, and her father Martin (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) has turned to tranquilizers to suppress the memories. Determined to investigate what exactly happened to them, Emma tracks down and confronts Wörmer, only to unintentionally reawaken his bloodthirst and ignite a violent revenge on everyone who sealed his destiny years ago.

Joining returning Nightwatch cast members Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Kim Bodnia, and Ulf Pilgaard in the cast are Fanny Leander Bornedal, Sonja Richter, Casper Kjær Jensen, Paprika Steen, Nina Rask, Alex Høgh Andersen, Sonny Lindberg, Niels Anders Thorn, Tina Gylling, Casper Phillipson, Vibeke Hastrup, and Christopher Læssø.

Nightwatch: Demons Are Forever arrives on Shudder on May 17th.
