Pacific Rim 2 delayed indefinitely by Legendary Pictures

September 16, 2015 by Tom Beasley

Legendary Pictures has delayed Guillermo del Toro’s (Crimson Peak) sci-fi sequel Pacific Rim 2 indefinitely, with the chance that it might never get made.

The first Pacific Rim was produced as part of Legendary’s partnership with Warner Bros., which is no longer a strong one.

The Hollywood Reporter writes that Legendary has taken a step back from Pacific Rim 2 and may not make it at all, given the high budget required to bring the world to life.

The news is surprising given that, as recently as July, Del Toro claimed that he was looking to shoot the film in November this year.

Pacific Rim made a healthy $411m at the worldwide box office, but cost $190m to make.
