Parent complains about Slave Leia Star Wars toy – asks for Target to remove from sale

July 15, 2015 by admin

It’s perhaps one of the characters most iconic of looks, but a parent in Phildelphia is asking for Hasbro’s Star Wars Black Series figure of Princess Leia in Return of the Jedi to be removed from sale – because it offends him.

“That’s pretty inappropriate,” Fred Hill told FOX News. “I got two daughters, I don’t [them] need seeing that crap.”

The figure describes Leia as being in her “slave outfit” and Hill was disgusted to see that the she had a chain round her neck, as well as wearing next to nothing.

“They’re like, ‘Dad why does this doll have a chain around its neck?’ I don’t have any answers,” Hill adds. “I was just blown away looking at it.”

FOX also asked other parents in the Target shop what they thought, with one saying, “it’s a little indecent. A little more clothing would have helped,” while another added, “It’s true to the scene, but I don’t know if I would purchase this for my girls.” One mother said, “it’s just a bit much for a child. So no I probably wouldn’t give this to my 4 year old and maybe not an 8 year old.”

“We have not received any other guest complaints about this product,” Target said in a comment. “If the guest has a question we recommend they reach out directly to Target’s guest relations team”

Do you think the Slave Leia toy is “indecent”?
