Patty Jenkins and Gal Gadot on plans for third Wonder Woman movie

Patty Jenkins, the director of Wonder Woman and Wonder Woman 1984, has teased her plans for making a third film in the trilogy.

DC fans are patiently waiting for Wonder Woman 1984 to arrive at our screens but director Patty Jenkins is already thinking about the future. That’s right, she has plans to make a third film and has teased her idea during a set visit with Screen Rant. When asked if she had trilogy plans, she said:

“Sadly, yes. Because I’m like, ‘Guys, I’m retiring after this movie.’ So–goddamn it. Every time I think, yeah. I even think where the second movie came from was me as a fan of her, and as a fan of superhero films, craving what I haven’t gotten Which is: I wanted to see Wonder Woman out in the fucking world, not finding herself. Like, fucking Wonder Woman! So there is one more thing I’m craving, which is true to her theme, which is true to everything that she stands for, that I’m like, ‘Ooh.’ There’s one more chapter of Wonder Woman that we don’t quite get. It doesn’t quite make sense for this movie. It didn’t for the last, either.”

Star Gal Gadot also chimed in with her thoughts on a third movie: “You know it’s funny, we shot Wonder Woman and we were already fantasizing on the next one. The three of us work really well together and truly love each other. And even on this one, we’re already talking about our next journey together, and what’s the next movie we’re going to do together just because we really, we have great chemistry and we enjoy working together.”

So it certainly sounds like fans can expect one more instalment in the Wonder Woman franchise after 1984. Hopefully, the film does well so Jenkins and co can get there wish.

Wonder Woman 1984 reunites Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins with stars Gal Gadot (Diana Prince), Chris Pine (Steve Trevor), Ewen Bremner (Charlie), Said Taghmaoui (Sameer), Connie Nielsen (Queen Hippolyta), Robin Wright (General Antiope), Lisa Loven Kongsli (Menalippe), Doutzen Kroes (Venelia) and new additions Kristen Wiig (Ghostbusters) as Barbara Ann Minerva/Cheetah, Pedro Pascal (Game of Thrones) as Maxwell Lord, and Natasha Rothwell (Love, Simon), Ravi Patel (Master of None, Grandfathered) and Gabriella Wilde (Doctor Who, Poldark) in as-yet-unrevealed roles.
