Patty Jenkins would like to direct a Superman movie

June 10, 2017 by Jordan Jones

Wonder Woman is currently crushing the box-office worldwide, and receiving rave reviews from fans and critics alike. Given the critical reception to Batman v. Superman and Suicide Squad, it seems that Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins may have single-handedly saved the DC Extended Universe. With that said, it’s safe to say that Patty Jenkins will remain a fixture over at Warner Bros. for as long as she likes.

So, given the chance, what other DC solo movies would Patty Jenkins like to tackle? During a recent Reddit AMA, the director gave her choice: “It’s no secret that I love Superman but right now I’m just happy doing Wonder Woman.”

It’s certain that most fans are happy that SHE is happy “just doing Wonder Woman“. Still, her answer is not at all surprising; Many have compared Wonder Woman to Richard Donner’s Superman. While we hope that Patty Jenkins returns to the director’s seat for Wonder Woman 2, one can’t help but wonder what she would do with Superman. Many have complained of the darker nature of the current cinematic incarnation of Superman, and perhaps she is just the person to find the right balance for the Man of Steel.

Before she was Wonder Woman, she was Diana, princess of the Amazons, trained to be an unconquerable warrior. Raised on a sheltered island paradise, when an American pilot crashes on their shores and tells of a massive conflict raging in the outside world, Diana leaves her home, convinced she can stop the threat. Fighting alongside man in a war to end all wars, Diana will discover her full powers…and her true destiny.

Wonder Woman sees Patty Jenkins (Monster) directing a cast that includes Gal Gadot (Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice), Chris Pine (Star Trek), Connie Nielsen (Gladiator), Robin Wright (House of Cards), Danny Huston (X-Men Origins: Wolverine), David Thewlis (The Theory of Everything), Ewen Bremner (Snowpiercer), Said Taghmaoui (American Hustle), Elena Anaya (The Skin I Live In), Lisa Loven Kongsli (Force Majeure), Lucy Davis (Shaun of the Dead) and Ann Wolf.
