Paul Rudd to star in The Catcher Was a Spy

May 1, 2016 by Gary Collinson

Deadline is reporting that Paul Rudd has signed on to star in The Catcher Was a Spy, a World War II thriller from director Ben Lewin (The Sessions), which is based upon the bestselling book from Nicholas Dawidoff, with Robert Rodat (Saving Private Ryan) penning the script.

Rudd will play Moe Berg, an Ivy League graduate and attorney who spent 15 years as a journeyman player in Major League Baseball for the likes of the New York Robins and Chicago White Sox whilst doubling as a spy for the Office of Strategic Services, helping the Americans win the race against Germany to build the Atomic Bomb.

Berg’s story had previously been developed by Warner Bros., with George Clooney in line to star, as well as HBO and Miramax.
