Play your favourite heroes for free this weekend with Marvel’s Avengers open beta

August 21, 2020 by Andrew Newton

Square Enix are giving players the chance to have a sneak peak Marvel’s Avengers this weekend with the Open Beta.  From today until the 23rd August, players can don their capes and flex their super pwoers to get a hands-on experience of the game ahead of it’s release on Xbox One, Playstation 4 and PC on 4th September.

During the Open beta period players will be able to experience four of the game’s single-player campaign Hero Missions, tackle three HARM Room challenges, fight through four War Zones and test their skills in five Drop Zones.  Both War Zones and Drop Zones can be played solo with any hero in the player’s roster as AI companions or in multiplayer with three other friends.

What’s more, those Xbox One and PS4 players who link their Square Enix Members and Epic Games accounts and complete the Beta’s three HARM-room challenges can earn the Hulk Smashers Pickaxe with bonus Hulkbuster style that can be used in Epic Games’ Fortnite.

To play the Open Beta, gamers will need to sign up for a free Square Enix Members account (click here) with those who do receiving a Thor in-game nameplate in the final game.

“Our previous beta weekends have already seen millions of gamers spend tens of millions of hours teaming up and smashing enemies as their favorite Super Heroes,” said Scot Amos, studio head at developer Crystal Dynamics. “We’re really looking forward to opening up the beta to anyone who wants to play on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC so they too can take the role of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.”

Take a sneak peak at Marvel’s Avengers this weekend and get ready for heroic escapades on Xbox One, Playstation 4 and PC on the 4th September.
