Power Rangers cast want a female Green Ranger in the sequel

March 27, 2017 by Robert Kojder

Minor spoilers for Power Rangers follow. You have been warned…

Lionsgate and Saban’s big screen reboot of Power Rangers ends on a cliffhanger that a new student named Tommy will be joining them in Saturday afternoon detention. Traditionally, Tommy has been depicted as a male, but the Red Ranger (Dacre Montgomery) says he and the rest of the cast are in favor of flipping the gender role.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Montgomery explains: “A lot of the cast and I have discussed that we think it should be a girl. It makes it even three girls, three boys. It’s left blank. It’s a cliffhanger. Whoever you’re going to drop into that position — whether it’s a girl, it’s inevitably going to create drama. It’ll be interesting to drop that drama into it and see how we all relate to it and work with it.”
