Ranking the Pixar Movies from Worst to Best

June 16, 2018 by George Chrysostomou

George Chrysostomou ranks the Pixar movies from worst to best…

Coinciding with the release of Incredibles 2, we at Flickering Myth thought it was about time to do a full ranking of every Pixar film. To create this list, not only is this a culmination of my own opinions and other Flickering Myth writers, but also the collection of thoughts from many people throughout social media. So, without further ado, here’s the Pixar filmography from worst to best.

19: Cars 3

Often deemed the worst of all the Pixar films, continuously being described as a cash grab based on merchandise sales, Cars 3 performed the worst out of all the Cars films. Childish, not particularly deep, and certainly not what you’d expect from a Pixar film, the conclusion of the Owen Wilson-led franchise certainly left a lot to be desired.

18. Cars 2

Cars 2 quickly follows its sequel; the spy adventure was John Lasseter’s baby and had the ambition of surpassing the original film of the trilogy. The heart of the first was severely lacking however, with sequel becoming a hollow version of its predecessor. The emphasis on Mater in particular was a misstep and things got worse from there. The voice talent in this film especially was wasted. Financially it did well, but for audiences Cars 2 just wasn’t enough to keep them driving back for more.

17. The Good Dinosaur

The Pixar film everyone forgets about, The Good Dinosaur has everyone feeling very neutral. Whilst not bad by any standards, it really isn’t unique either. Failing to capture the Pixar magic that so many of the other films on this list have, The Good Dinosaur would be a fit under the Disney Animation banner more so than that of PIXAR. Whilst sometimes charming, this prehistoric story failed to inspire the imagination of its audience.

16. Finding Dory

A very controversial entry into this list at such a low ranking, Finding Dory has become a very polarising film for some. Perhaps because the original is so beloved by so many, or perhaps because some find the Dory character, voiced by Ellen, to be a bit annoying; the fish seem to have been forgotten along with the dinosaurs. I would fervently argue personally that this should be higher on the list but alas, for Dory and friends, the sequel was deemed not quite as good as the first.
