Ray Fisher puts an end to speculation about his Cyborg future in the DCEU

August 18, 2018 by Gary Collinson

For the past couple of months, rumours have been circulating that Justice League star Ray Fisher’s days as Cyborg are numbered and that the actor was set to depart the DC Extended Universe.

The speculation about Fisher’s future increased last week when it was revealed that Joivan Wade (The First Purge) has been cast as Victor Stone in DC Universe’s live-action Doom Patrol series.

However, any Cyborg fans worried that this has spelled the end for the character in the DCEU can now rest easy, as Fisher has taken to social media to clarify that he remains attached to the role:

“I don’t usually engage the rumor-mill, but it’s recent turn may be worth a little grist: I am NOT, nor do I have ANY intention of, leaving Cyborg,” said Fisher. “Furthermore, if/when the time comes for me to hangup my all-too-revealing mocap onesie, you will hear it from me directly.”

Despite this clarification, Cyborg’s DCEU future does remain uncertain; a solo movie planned for 2020 looks very unlikely to materialise at this point, his involvement with The Flash film appeared to end when Rick Famuyiwa vacated the director’s chair, and a Justice League sequel doesn’t seem to be on the cards any time soon.
