Robert Eggers’ Nosferatu has wrapped production

June 1, 2023 by EJ Moreno

Following a three-month shoot, Robert Eggers’ Nosferatu has wrapped.

Filming of the horror film took place at Barrandov Studio in Prague and wrapped production on May 19th. Production briefly took place at Prague’s historic Invalidovna complex, giving the film an authentic 18th-century look.

As for how the shoot went, Collider provided a quote from The Prague Reporter where the local crew noted the production was a “complex and unconventional shoot” but were “proud to be part of” it. We haven’t heard from the cast or the director on how production went for them.

The cast includes Bill Skarsgard, Lily-Rose Depp, Nicolas Hoult, Willem Dafoe, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Emma Corrin, Ralph Ineson, and Simon McBurney.

Deadline notes the new film will follow “a haunted young woman (Depp) in 19th century Germany and the ancient Transylvanian vampire (Skarsgard) who stalks her, bringing untold horror with him.” Focus will distribute Nosferatu domestically, and Universal Pictures International will handle it internationally.

Filmmaker Robert Eggers will follow up his 2022 film The Northman with this classic 1922 silent film remake. Eggers is best known for his period-piece horror films The Witch and The Lighthouse. Nosferatu is reportedly a passion project for the horror filmmaker.

There’s no release date at the time of writing.
