Robert Luketic to direct The ExpendaBelles, synopsis released

February 6, 2014 by admin

The all-female Expendables spin-off The ExpendaBelles has secured a director, with Deadline reporting that Robert Luketic has signed on to the project, which reunites him with Legally Blonde screenwriters Kristen Smith and Karen McCullah. Sylvester Stallone is producing, while Avi Lerner will serve as executive producer. Here’s the official synopsis:

When America’s Navy SEALs are wiped out trying to penetrate the island lair of a deadly despot who has captured one of the world’s top nuclear scientists, it becomes clear that there is no such thing as the right man for the job and that this is a mission so impossible that only women can handle it. The only way in: some of the world’s deadliest female operatives must pose as high-class call-girls shipped in by private plane to satisfy a dictator–and instead save the scientist and the day.

Luketic is expected to begin casting on The ExpendaBelles soon, with previous names thrown up by Lerner as possibilities including Meryl Streep (August: Osage County), Milla Jovovich (Resident Evil) and Cameron Diaz (The Counselor).
