Minor spoilers for Justice League follow. You have been warned…
Throughout the production of Justice League, there were several rumours suggesting that members of the Green Lantern Corps would make an appearance in the DC blockbuster, and while we did see an unnamed Lantern battling Steppenwolf in the flashback scene, it seems the original plans would have called for two more familiar faces to show up in a post-credits scene.
According to a VFX artist posting on Reddit, during principal photography a scene was shot which saw Bruce Wayne being awoken in his lake house by a green light, with Kilowog and Tomar-Re then making an appearance. However, it was said to have been cut early in the post-production phase.
They go on to post that: “I doubt it’ll ever see the light of day – not much had been done to it yet, it was still just a plate of Ben Affleck and a guy on a crane with a big green light. Kilowog and Tomar-Re were still being sculpted when it was cut. Their designs from the Ryan Reynolds Green Lantern film were actually what the modelling team were using as inspiration.”
Presumably the scene would have been used to set up the planned Green Lantern Corps movie in 2020, but was instead replaced either the Superman and Flash sequence or the Lex Luthor and Deathstroke scene (although as we saw yesterday, the latter was directed by Zack Snyder, which suggests that would have also been shot during principal photography).
