Rumour: Pedro Pascal wanted for Star Wars TV series, Jon Favreau, Dave Filoni and Alan Taylor set to direct episodes

October 3, 2018 by Gary Collinson

With Jon Favreau’s live-action Star Wars TV series kicking off production this week, it’s only a matter of time until we get some official news on the project, but in the meantime the folks at Making Star Wars have shared a rumour about the series’ potential lead.

According to the site, Narcos, Game of Thrones and Wonder Woman 1984 star Pedro Pascal is wanted for the series, which reportedly takes place on the planet of Mandalore a few years after the death of The Emperor in Return of the Jedi. As yet, there’s no word on who Pascal could be playing, nor is his casting confirmed, although Making Star Wars’ sources are apparently confident that he was at the very least in contention for the part.

Meanwhile, Discussing Film has shared a rumour of its own, which states that executive producer Jon Favreau is set to direct two episodes (potentially the premiere and finale), with Alan Taylor (Thor: The Dark World) and Dave Filoni (Star Wars Rebels) also set to tackle episodes.

Taylor has extensive experience on the small screen, having helmed episodes of Game of Thrones, Mad Men, Boardwalk Empire, The Sopranos, Lost and Deadwood among others. Filoni meanwhile is a Star Wars fan favourite through his work on Rebels and Star Wars: The Clone Wars, and would be making his live-action debut on the show.
