Rumour: Shazam to start shooting in February, Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam won’t appear

July 18, 2017 by Gary Collinson

With Shazam’s planned release date of April 5th 2019 slowly edging ever-closer, it seems we may now have a production start date for the DC Extended Universe release, with El Mayimbe claiming on Twitter that filming on the movie will get underway in February.

Dwayne Johnson had initially been cast as the villain/antihero Black Adam in the Shazam movie, which is reportedly set to be directed by David F. Sandberg (Lights Out). However, a solo Black Adam film was announced in January, and Mayimbe is suggesting that The Rock will now no longer be appearing in Shazam, presumably building to the eventual crossover in a later movie.

Unless Dwayne isn't in this film that production info is wrong

Warner Bros. has today announced two new DC Films dates for 2020, and it seems that their entire slate post-2018 is up in the air at the moment. However, expect some big announcements and clarifications during the studio’s Hall H panel at the San Diego Comic-Con International this coming weekend.
