Ryan Reynolds addresses Taylor Swift Deadpool 3 rumours: “I love it”

November 26, 2023 by Ricky Church

Taylor Swift may have swept away theatres worldwide with the release of her concert film Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour, but the mega-popstar might just dominate a whole other universe in the MCU.

With Deadpool 3 back in production for its summer 2024 release, there has been plenty of speculation as to what this film will look like as not only Deadpool’s, but of the X-Men’s formal entrance into the MCU. That has also created some big rumours that the world’s biggest pop star will have a role in the film.

Deadpool 3 has attracted a lot of attention as Hugh Jackman has come out of his mutant retirement to reprise his iconic role as Logan/Wolverine in the film, complete with Wolverine’s classic costume from the Marvel X-Men comics, and Reynolds’ recent introduction of Dogpool. However, rumours have been raging for the past few weeks that Swift has a secret role as the mutant Dazzler in the film. Dazzler, who was played by Halston Sage in Dark Phoenix, has the ability to convert sound vibrations into light and energy beams.

In an interview with the Vancouver Sun, Reynolds, who was recently awarded the Order of British Columbia for all the work he has done in and representing his home province, was asked about the rumours of Swift’s involvement and while he didn’t confirm them he didn’t deny it either.

“Yeah, I’ve heard that one,” Reynolds said with a reported laugh at the speculation. “I love it (the gossip). I think it is a sign of how eager people are to get a peek behind the curtain in this world. Every single one of these secrets and spoilers will be revealed on July 26.”

It’s not that much of a stretch to believe Swift might appear in Deadpool 3. She and Reynolds’ wife Blake Lively are very good friends with Swift having used their children as inspiration for songs on her Folklore album and Lively directing the music video for Swift’s song ‘I Bet You Think About Me.’ Deadpool director Shawn Levy also teased the amount of cameos the film has and how they were “easy” to arrange.

There’s no telling who they might have gained or which characters will appear not only from the MCU, but across previous films produced under 20th Century Fox as with Jennifer Garner’s Elektra from Daredevil and her standalone film. It is also of note to remember Deadpool 2 featured Terry Crews, Bill Skarsgard, Lewis Tan and Brad Pitt as Deadpool’s ill-fated X-Force in brief cameos.

Deadpool 3 will be directed by Shawn Levy (Free Guy) and stars Reynolds alongside Deadpool veterans Stefan Kapacic (Colossus), Brianna Hildebrand (Negasonic Teenage Warhead), Morena Baccarin (Vanessa), Karan Soni (Dopinder), Leslie Uggams (Blind Al), Shioli Kutsuna (Yukio) and Rob Delaney (Peter) as well as Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, Jennifer Garner as Elektra and new additions Matthew Macfadyen (Succession) and Emma Corrin (The Crown) in as yet unspecified roles.

Deadpool 3 will be released on July 26th, 2024.
