Ryan Reynolds marks Disney’s Fox takeover with Deadpool post

March 19, 2019 by Gary Collinson

Now that The Walt Disney Company has officially completed its takeover of 20th Century Fox’s film and TV divisions, the fan favourite antihero Deadpool now falls under the control of the Mouse House and its Marvel Studios subsidiary (along with the rest of the X-Men, Fantastic Four, and a whole host of other IPs).

To mark the occasion, Ryan Reynolds has taken to Twitter to share an image of the Merc with a Mouth as he prepares for his first day under the Disney umbrella…

Jokes aside, Disney and Marvel had refused to make any comment on their plans for Fox’s Marvel characters, with the fate of Deadpool and company now very much up in the air. Naturally we won’t have seen the last of the characters, and Disney CEO Bob Iger has previously suggested that the studio would be open to R-rated Deadpool movies, but whether or not that includes Reynolds and his take on the character remains to be seen.

Are you hoping that Disney sticks with Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool, or would you prefer to see the character rebooted into the Marvel Cinematic Universe? Could that be done with Reynolds still in the role? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below or tweet us @FlickeringMyth…
